Why we like to partner with Moment Factory

When a project calls for spectacular content and a fully immersive experience, we like to partner with Moment Factory. Their ability to bring imagery, sound, lighting, and a physical space together is a major reason we value their work.

Moment Factory is a Montréal-based multidisciplinary entertainment studio founded in 2001. Its work combines creative development, design, and production across immersive environments, with expertise spanning video, sound, lighting, architecture, interactivity, and special effects.

For XL AV, that breadth creates opportunities to develop a project with a creative partner while contributing our own systems integration expertise. We want the content, the equipment, and the way the space operates to support the same experience.

Immersive design starts with the audience and the space

An immersive project needs a clear purpose. A visitor attraction may tell a story over a defined journey. A corporate environment may communicate a brand through a media wall and coordinated lighting. An event may need a short, carefully timed sequence that brings the audience’s attention to a presentation or performance.

We begin with the audience, the intended activity, and the physical setting. Sightlines, movement, ambient light, room acoustics, and the amount of time people spend in the space all affect the design. Content should be developed for those conditions, including the surfaces and perspectives from which it will be experienced.

Moment Factory offers custom experiences for applications that include cultural and educational spaces, public spaces, transportation hubs, hospitality, brand activations, and live entertainment. That range is relevant when a project requires creative work across several media and a complete spatial experience.

Creative production and systems integration working together

Moment Factory has substantial technical expertise alongside its creative capabilities. Some of its services overlap with ours. On a collaborative project, we establish who is responsible for creative direction, content production, technical design, equipment supply, installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing support.

XL AV can contribute the display systems, audio, lighting integration, signal distribution, networking, and controls required by the agreed design. The creative and technical teams coordinate early so content formats, playback requirements, installation details, and operating procedures are developed together.

The scope depends on the project. Clear responsibilities and shared design reviews allow each team to contribute where its expertise is most useful to the customer.

Design content for the display surface

A wide LED media wall, a projection-mapped architectural surface, and a group of synchronized displays each need a different content layout. Resolution, aspect ratio, viewing distance, brightness, colour, and the position of important visual elements should be established before final content production.

Where direct-view LED suits the concept, XL AV can integrate LUXVISION displays selected for the application. Fine-pitch ECOLUX HD X is an option to evaluate for detailed indoor content viewed at closer distances. Other LUXVISION families may suit staging, signage, or different viewing conditions. We select the display around the creative brief and site requirements.

Projection may suit an architectural surface or an irregular shape, with mapping and alignment included in the design. We review ambient light, surface characteristics, projector positions, and audience sightlines alongside the intended imagery. The display technology should support the content and the space.

Sound and lighting contribute to the experience

Audio helps establish scale, direction, mood, and timing. We plan loudspeaker coverage, playback channels, acoustic conditions, and sound levels around where the audience will be. A space that combines immersive playback with announcements or presentations also needs a clear method for changing operating modes.

Lighting can extend the visual treatment beyond the screen and guide attention through the environment. We coordinate fixture positions, control zones, cues, and transitions with the content and architecture. Where interactive elements are required, the design also needs to define what the audience can do and how the system responds.

We test the combined experience in the space. Video, sound, lighting, and interactive responses need to agree in timing and behaviour, including the transitions before and after a sequence.

Coordinate playback, control, and daily operation

An immersive installation may need several playback outputs, synchronized sequences, scheduled operation, and a straightforward staff interface. Those requirements determine the media-server and control design. We establish the content format, output mapping, synchronization method, and interfaces before equipment selection.

Moment Factory’s X-Agora platform is one example of its experience technology, bringing orchestration, venue control, and real-time guest sensing into a common environment. Platform selection and integration responsibilities are determined for each project.

For the venue team, we plan startup, shutdown, routine operation, content updates, monitoring, and recovery after an interruption. A permanent installation also needs access for service and a documented process for replacing equipment without losing the intended configuration.

Bring creative and technical planning together early

A useful brief includes the purpose of the experience, audience, site plans, available surfaces, operating hours, budget, and target opening date. It should also identify whether the content will remain fixed, change seasonally, or be refreshed regularly.

XL AV can help turn that brief into an integration scope and identify where a partner such as Moment Factory can contribute immersive design and content production. We coordinate the creative requirements with the infrastructure, equipment, installation, and operating plan.

Our aim is a complete experience that delivers the creative intent and remains practical for the customer to operate. We agree the scope, collaboration, approvals, testing, and handover process before the project moves into production.
