Clearer conferencing starts with the room

A meeting system needs to capture the people taking part, including someone at the end of the table, a presenter standing beside a display, and colleagues joining remotely. XL AV begins with those activities and listening positions when selecting conferencing audio.

The Shure MXA925 is a ceiling array microphone for spaces where pickup needs to cover a defined area without placing microphones across the table. Shure currently lists it as an enhanced successor to the MXA920, with onboard AI-enabled IntelliMix processing.

Ceiling pickup for changing seating layouts

Shure specifies a default Automatic Coverage area of 30 × 30 ft (9 × 9 m), with up to eight configurable coverage areas for more focused pickup. Square and round versions provide different installation options.

Coverage figures are a starting point for design. XL AV reviews ceiling height, distance to speakers, table positions, presentation areas, ventilation noise, and room finishes. We test ordinary speaking levels and movement so the configuration reflects how the room will actually be used.

What the AI-assisted audio processing does

The MXA925 includes AI Acoustic Echo Cancellation, AI Denoiser, and AI Deverb within its onboard IntelliMix DSP. Shure describes these as processing tools for reducing acoustic echo, noise, and reverberation in captured speech.

For a remote caller, useful audio means hearing the conversation without distracting room sound or their own voice returning through the system. XL AV configures microphone routing and playback references, then checks conversations in both directions. Physical room acoustics, microphone placement, and loudspeaker placement remain part of that work.

Boardrooms, teaching spaces, and flexible rooms

A boardroom needs clear pickup around the table and at the presentation position. A teaching room may need instructor speech and student questions. A flexible training room may change between rows, group tables, and open discussion.

XL AV assesses the MXA925 against each room’s activities and budget. We also consider whether a smaller audio system, dedicated presenter microphone, or another arrangement would better suit the space. The design includes a practical operating method for visiting presenters and staff who use several different rooms.

Camera tracking and voice lift need coordinated design

Shure documents positional data for camera-tracking integrations and support for voice-lift applications. These functions provide options for a complete system design; they do not supply cameras, loudspeakers, or finished room programming.

XL AV defines the camera views, switching behaviour, audience sound coverage, and control interfaces required for the project. Camera tracking needs compatible equipment and configuration. Voice lift also needs careful microphone-to-loudspeaker routing and gain planning, verified with the people and positions the room must support.

The microphone is one part of the conferencing system

The MXA925 has dual RJ45 connections with flexible Dante/AES67 audio and control arrangements. Shure also lists 802.1X, audio encryption within compatible Shure systems, and ShureCloud management capabilities.

XL AV coordinates network requirements with IT and selects the supported conferencing connection, loudspeakers, cameras, and controls. We confirm software, licensing, account ownership, and the exact platform configuration. A microphone selection alone does not establish that the complete room is certified for a conferencing platform.

Combine clear conversations with useful shared content

Participants also need to see presentations, remote colleagues, and detailed documents. XL AV selects the display around seating, viewing distance, ambient light, and the content being shared.

For suitable boardrooms and larger teaching spaces, a LUXVISION ECOLUX HD X LED display can provide a shared presentation surface. We coordinate its processing, source connections, mounting, brightness, and service access with the conferencing system. Audio and video are commissioned together so remote participants, room audiences, and presenters have the intended sources.

How XL AV makes the room ready to use

Before equipment selection, we review the room layout, existing infrastructure, intended activities, supported meeting platforms, and operator requirements. That establishes whether the MXA925 is appropriate and what must accompany it.

Commissioning includes representative speech from seating and presentation positions, remote conversations, content playback, microphone muting, camera operation, and room controls. We provide the agreed training, operating instructions, configuration records, and support responsibilities. An existing system can also be assessed before deciding which equipment needs replacement.
