Crestron Virtual Panel

Crestron Virtual Panel runs a Crestron control interface on Windows or macOS. XL AV uses it for testing and support, and specifies it for end users when a desktop or kiosk control surface fits the room better than a wall or table touch screen.

Crestron UI on a computer

Crestron Virtual Panel is a desktop application for testing, troubleshooting, and configuring systems remotely when network access allows.

For clients, it can drive smaller AV systems, monitoring views, museum kiosks, or centralized lighting and environmental control from an existing PC.

Part of a programmed Crestron system

Virtual Panel still requires control logic, security settings, and device drivers configured for the site. The application displays the programmed interface.

When walk-up users need a dedicated touch screen at the table or wall, we specify 80 Series hardware and commission it for those workflows.

When we recommend it

Typical uses include support staff who need remote access, operators who work from a PC, and spaces where a kiosk computer is the public interface. Primary boardroom control for walk-up users usually calls for a dedicated touch screen.

Describe who operates the system daily. That determines Virtual Panel, an 80 Series touch screen, a keypad, or a combination.

Typical uses

  • Remote test and troubleshooting
  • Small AV system UIs
  • Interactive kiosks
  • Desktop environmental control

Questions

Is Virtual Panel a replacement for every touch screen?

Many rooms still need a dedicated panel at the table or wall. Virtual Panel is an additional interface option where a computer is the right control point.

Who usually runs it?

Integrators and support staff for test and troubleshooting, and end users when a laptop, desktop, or kiosk is the right place to drive a small system or building function.

Windows and Mac?

Crestron documents Virtual Panel for Windows and macOS. We confirm current OS support for the deployment you want.

Can it control lighting for a floor?

It can serve as a control surface for appropriate systems, including environmental control, when the program and security model allow. Scope is defined in the design.
